Toyota tundra blowing white smoke

When a car blows white smoke , check the engine oil dipstick and oil filler cap. If covered in a creamy brown or tan goo, this means water and coolant have found their way in your car’s oil. Next, when the engine is col check the radiator’s coolant level. Chances are it is low. White smoke itself is not necessarily an indication that something is wrong.

Here are some of the most common things that cause it broken down by smoke thickness. Keep in mind that some smoke is completely normal at times. When you fist start your vehicle (espescially in colder climates) white smoke is normal until the engine warms up.

If it’s cold enough, it may never go all the way away. I started seeing smoke out of the exhaust around 10miles or so. It was an intermittant issue that usually appeared after a minute run and a 2hr sit then a startup. The smoke was blueish grey.

I managed to get a short video. Burning coolant has a very obvious smell to it. More often then not it is just condensation. It seems to be blowing a light puff of smoke at start up.

Large clouds of white smoke are a different story. In this video we show you why! If you notice that your car is blowing white smoke. I started my gf tacoma and it actually seems to do the exact same thing. This was after both of our trucks had reached operating temperature.

Now i know sometimes this is cause by your valve stem seals are leaking but should i be worried. What should i do about this? If it was caused by oil, smoke on start up is usually valve guides or seals. Oil runs down the valve stem, and gets burned as soon as you start the truck. It creates a bluish white smoke.

Coolant makes steam and it usually evaporates rather quickly compared to oil generated smoke. It will create a white cloud. Our certified mobile mechanics come to you days a week between AM and PM. Wife took the truck for the day, topped off the radiator and forgot to put the cap back on. On her way home it overheated like crazy, white smoke blowing everywhere, and shut down.

I had it to the local dealer and they replaced the oil seals (whatever that is) and it still does the same thing. No other issues with the car. Smoke is a product of combustion, so if you have smoke coming from your vents then you have a big problem. Also smoke doesn't disappear in a few seconds, it will linger around and smell like burning. My wifes Honda does this fog effect. I can actually make it happen by turning the ac on and off on really humid days. Any help would be appreciated.

L V-smokes on start up after sitting all evening in the garage and also when I start for my trip home from work which is usually 10. On occasion it will smoke after shorter sits.
