White smoke coming out of exhaust

White smoke coming out of exhaust

What does white smoke from motorcycle exhaust mean? Why would a car blow white smoke? Could the Turbo cause my white smoke? What causes a lot of smoke to come from the exhaust? If white smoke continues to come out of your exhaust while the car is running, there are other issues at fault.

One cause of white smoke from the exhaust might be the engine leaking coolant. If the engine leaks coolant, it will be burned by the heat of the engine and then come out as smoke from the exhaust. White smoke can be a big problem or not, depending on the thickness. The white smoke is the result of normal condensation which builds up inside the exhaust system. If you the white smoke consistently comes out and the sweet odor smell is present, then it is definitely a problem with your coolant leaking.

All it takes is a little bit of coolant to leak out and get mixed in with the engine oil. Once that happens, the oil will become contaminated. The first sign of having contaminated oil is white exhaust smoke coming out of the tailpipe.

As this continues, the white smoke will begin to have a sweet odor smell that won’t go away. One of the main causes of white exhaust smoke and coolant loss is a cracked or warped cylinder hea a cracked engine block, or head gasket failure caused by overheating. A cracked head may allow coolant to leak into one or more cylinders or into the combustion chamber of the engine. A small amount of water is produced as a normal bi product of the combustion process and until the exhaust system warms up the water evaporates and can be seen as steam. The smoke escaping from your tailpipe is actually steam and will appear more gray than white in color if examined closely.

The water is the result of an accumulation of that same steam as it makes its way through the exhaust system and out of the tailpipe where it condenses from its gas form back into liquid. Normally this is a sign of a blown head gasket or cracked head. This kind of smoke disappears.

You must STOP driving this vehicle or you will cause serious engine damage. If the white smoke still keeps coming out after the engine is nice and warm something may be wrong. There may be problems with the engine block, and coolant may be leaking in to the engine because of a leak in the head gasket.

Blue is a color of trouble with the oil. On cold winter days, it is common to see white smoke from exhaust pipe as soon as you start the car. As the engine warms up after a few minutes, this white smoke will not be reduced because condensation is dissipated. Should you be worried about this?

First things first, it’s necessary to identify the exact type of smoke your car is producing. A steady stream of white smoke during normal driving conditions points to fuel vapors, or in some cases, raw fuel exiting the exhaust. Worn or defective glow plugs, improper engine timing and defective fuel pump pressure will allow excess fuel to exit the exhaust in the form of white smoke.

You may commonly see white smoke coming from the exhaust on cooler days upon starting. Internal combustion engines burn a mixture of air and gasoline to move the car. If you notice that your car is blowing white smoke.

Black smoke or very dark smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. A new fuel odor or drop in MPG that seems to be coming from the exhaust pipe. It is never a good signal and can indicate several problems.

But if you spot it early, know what to do and act on it, these problems can be fixed.
