I loooooooooove however a few minor problems which I can live with til I get them fixed or replaced £££££££ ,Ok heres where I need advice shes done 115k engine purrs however I keep getting a lot of white smoke from the exhaust wh. When I start the vehicle, white smoke comes out of the exhaust. If so, do I need a new oxygen sensor?

The clould is large enough to be seen in the mirrors but only last for a few seconds. The car has had 8K mile oil changes with BMW synthetic oil and has never required additional oil between changes. What could have caused that?


I have never had any trouble with the car until this incident. Help me understand what the problem is? Stop Smoke from the tail pipe.

The white smoke is the result of normal condensation which builds up inside the exhaust system. White smoke can be a big problem or not, depending on the thickness. It has a burnt oil smell. It seems to happen when the car heats up and when stopped smoke comes out. If the exhaust smoke is white : Does the exhaust smoke quickly dissipate after leaving the tailpipe?


This is a common sight when cars, even modern ones, are first started in the morning. If it continues well after start-up , then you may have serious. Everyone here has already stated correctly what it could be: If you are consistently getting a fairly big cloud of white smoke after startup , you either have coolant pouring into one of the cylinders as the car sits overnight, and thus on startup the car needs to burn the coolant off (hence, the white smoke ). When i start up the car, lot of smoke is coming only from one of the tail pipes.

After a few seconds the smoke is gone. But when i idle and rev the car hard the smoke is back. I have noticed lately, that when I pull away after being at idle, in traffic or traffic lights for a long perio , I get a cloud of blue grey smoke from the rear of the car.


This smoke does not appear while driving normally, at hig. If smoke is being release then this is indicative of a problem. HOWTO looks at all the possible reasons why white smoke is coming from your exhaust pipe.
