The botanical gardens feature an interesting rock garden , with many uncommon alpines, bulbs, screes and marginal plants situated around the natural pond and water features.

Situated in the leafy suburb of Didsbury, it lies minutes away from a range of quaint cafes, bars and restaurants and offers an idyllic, tranquil alternative to the hustle and bustle of the city centre. The course is run entirely on gravel paths. Some sections of the course may accumulate mu leaves and puddles after rain.


The rock garden has winding paths to explore and a pond. The Green Flag Awarded space stretches right down to the River Mersey, making it an ideal spot for a day out. This week whilst I was walking through the park I spied this, the Didsbury Bug Hotel.

I was expecting a very similar session to last week, but due to the awful storm the night before and the unusually heavy rain parts of the park were flooded or too churned up with mud to use. The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is a scientific centre for the study of plants, their diversity and conservation, as well as a popular tourist attraction. There are three areas to discover, the Moss and the Botanical Gardens , the Parsonage Gardens and the nature reserve of Stenner Woods, Millgate Fields and the River Mersey. The park has retained many of its original features such as the rock and heather gardens , and there is an Alpine house. The plant life here is renowned for its beauty, and contains several unusual varieties.


The police say there are no suspicious circumstances.
