White smoke from car hood

Why is white smoke coming from the hood of my car? Why would my car is blowing out white smoke? The oil filler cap in almost all the engines releases a faint whiff of smoke , which is a residue of the burnt fuel inside the engine. Older engines produce more hot spots, which make the car smoking under hood but not overheating.

The most common cause of white smoke from under the hood of a vehicle is an overheated engine. In this case, the driver is actually seeing steam from the radiator instead of smoke. However, if a burning smell accompanies the smoke , there is likely another type of fluid leak.

If the smoke is coming from under your hood , that probably means you ignored white smoke coming out of the tailpipe, and now your engine is overheating. Or maybe you completely forgot to add coolant at all, and the engine overheated. Not that anyone would ever do that.

When I drive the car for more than minutes I get white smoke coming from under the hood and a burning smell getting into my air conditioning system. When I open the hood , I see the white smoke coming from the area which I highlighted with red in the first picture. The second picture is a zoom-in of the first one.

Luckily I was able to make it home just fine. You said white smoke was coming out from the hood area behind the engine: You could have a leaked manifold gasket. The cause could be a faulty water pump If the pump is not working well the coolant and or water is not being forced through the system well enough to keep the engine cooled thus creating overheat.

White smoke coming from the engine is indicative of trouble within the engine. Sometimes, you can also see that the coolant reservoir level is low. I have white smoke coming from under the hood on the passenger side and it also comes out by the driver side front tire. I cannot tell for sure where it is coming from. It only happens after the car has warmed up.

There is oil or something spilled all over the engine could it just be burning that off? This is generally steam caused by condensation. What should I check first? As the engine warms up and the condensation dissipates the white exhaust smoke (steam) is no longer seen. If you notice that your car is blowing white smoke.

The black smoke may show there is a return fuel line which is obstructed. After driving for minutes I noticed white steam coming from the left side of the front hood. There was also a bad smell coming from there, kind of like burning rubber but not exactly.
