White smoke from 2 stroke outboard

White smoke from the exhaust of any internal combustion engine is cause for concern. In an outboard , though, it may mean something other than a tow to shore and an expensive repair. The dreadful white smoke ! Sometimes it is ba but there are certain instances where you can see white smoke , due to an overheat issue.

White smoke from 2 stroke outboard

Dealing with an outboard engine that is using seawater to cool it down, if there is a clog somewhere in the cooling system, the engine can heat up and turn the cooling water into vapor. Does it happen at all temperatures and speeds? I used alot of OMC carbon guard and Seafoam at the same time and the gas in the tank is over year old. Next day, without any changes, the exhaust smoke is too heavy and white. What could cause that?

I know white smoke is burnt oil, but I’ve never had a 2stroke before so can’t assess what’s normal. Note: it has two tanks, one for oil and one for petrol, and it does its own mixing. This helped cut the smoking down. See the in the video.

HP Mercury outboard Page:. I have a 30hp -cycle Evinrude outboard. There is no discernable.

If it is white smoke you do not have enough stroke oil in your gas and you are frying your engine, you have horrible blow by through the piston rings, or a major intake leak either through the intake halves, upper or lower crank seal, etc. I adjusted the carb on both the HL screws to 1. Steve, would it run fine for minutes or under power than die out if this were the case, and i know rich would explain smoke but idk if itd be white , ive seen rich strokes puff blueish smoke when the mix is too high And Guy i dont exactly follow on the the disconnecting the tach from the neg of the coil. When the - stroke motor is started dead col it tends to produce MORE blue smoke.

If combustion was complete, there would be no hydrocarbon emissions. Johnson seahorse, not sure on exact year but pretty sure its early 80s, stroke. It might be stating the obvious, but your scooter like most modern stroke bike or scooter engines uses an oil injection system, what that means is that unlike old strokes you do not put oil in the petrol, rather you add oil to a separate oil tank and the engine takes what it needs from that oil tank. Any ordinary two stroke lube oil will do for lube injection system. Normally stroke ouboard marine engine does not have as much coke as motorbike engine, but still cleaning the head and piston crown will give a better performance compared to not.

For this reason, outboard engines wear out faster, absorb more heat over a longer period and work under a constant load. Outboard engine cylinders also take a beating when it comes to ingesting water from their environment or cracking as a result of improper winterizing procedure. Some outboard cylinders simply crack from heat and stress. One of the major engine failures of an outboard motor concerns the temperature and operation of the piston. Responsible for compressing the air-fuel mixture, then forcing it from the exhaust, the piston can overheat and suffer catastrophic damage from a number of reasons.

If a boat owner knows what can cause a burnt. Another option would be to drain warm oil into a clean drain pan and get an engine analysis for $25. If after a good fang at high revs it is not smoking heavily (expect some smoke with any two stroke - no smoke at all is actually not good with any older design!) and takes some minutes at idle or slow revs to start smoking again then it is probably a build up of residual fuel in the crankcase caused by incomplete.

When I first turned it over, I had.
