White smoke under the hood

Why is white smoke coming from the hood of my car? Why would a car blow white smoke? White smoke : Water condensation or antifreeze has mixed with the fuel supply. The oil filler cap in almost all the engines releases a faint whiff of smoke , which is a residue of the burnt fuel inside the engine.

Older engines produce more hot spots, which make the car smoking under hood but not overheating. The most common cause of white smoke from under the hood of a vehicle is an overheated engine. In this case, the driver is actually seeing steam from the radiator instead of smoke. However, if a burning smell accompanies the smoke , there is likely another type of fluid leak.

I have white smoke coming from under the hood on the passenger side and it also comes out by the driver side front tire. I cannot tell for sure where it is coming from. It only happens after the car has warmed up. Runner - White Smoke from under hood and neon yellow liquid leaking from somewhere Radiator has a leak and the upper hose is clogge car does not overheat. My car is smoking while driving it also shakes and has burning smell. One of the main causes of white exhaust smoke and coolant loss is a cracked or warped cylinder hea a cracked engine block, or head gasket failure caused by overheating. A cracked head may allow coolant to leak into one or more cylinders or into the combustion chamber of the engine. Since I was near a gas station, I decided to pull in and open up the hood and I noticed that the smoke was coming from mainly around the engine. I checked all the fluids.

So I stop at a gas station, with jus. I pulled over and turned the car off, and saw I had a crack in my upper radiator hose. Less than half a mile down the roa there was a small amount of white smoke coming out from under my hood. White or grey smoke indicates water in the cylinders, likely due to a coolant leak through the intake gasket or head gasket.

Blue smoke comes from oil burning in the cylinders. Oil usually gets in through either a leaking intake valve seal or through worn piston rings. When you have smoke coming from under the hood it can be from a range of things, and the color of the smoke can help you figure out what it is.

This happens usually after minutes of driving the car and lasts the entire duration of when driving the car. In your case I'd be suspicious of an external coolant leak that collects on some part of the exhaust system and is heated into smoke as the exhaust system heats up,.
