The smoke was coming out of the exhaust smelt like chemicals and maybe fuel. I drove it very slowly to work and checked the oil to see if there was a mix of that and water - the oil seems fine. I waited for the car to cool and.

I found an interesting notation while reading the BMW NEngine - Technical Training Workbook (Page 20) Note: If the exhaust system produces blue smoke , it is necessary to check whether the engine is also drawing oil into the combustion chamber through the crankcase breather, which suggest that there is a fault in the area of the crankcase breather. My question is:- PCV valves or valve seals or what else could be the problem. As soon as I drive away it stops blowing smoke. What is the cause, is the engine about to go ? I recently replaced the radiator but since then the smoke has been comming out more ofter and heaver. How much would it cost to fix it.

If you see white smoke coming out of the exhaust all the time, even when the engine is hot, this is due to a leak in the head gasket. If the gasket is cracked or worn, water will penetrate into the cylinders, an under the effect of elevated temperature, will create white smoke that is emitted out the exhaust system. Why bmw xbattery drain fan not working exhaust blowing out white smoke. If the car is not driven very far each day, some moisture will collect in the muffler and cause white smoke for a short while after starting. Purchased this xfew weeks ago had no issues with it. And also while parked on idle for over mins when pulling off there will be a cloud a smoke left behind. Car has great service history on carfax from same bmw dealer.

Service due light just came on. BMW Eoil from Exhaust Answer. Hi, I am hoping I can pick some brains! Some white exhaust smoke is normal, especially when you first start the car.

Condensation can turn to vapor, providing what looks like white exhaust. But excessive white smoke likely means coolant is leaking into the engine combustion chambers. When i start up the car, lot of smoke is coming only from one of the tail pipes.

After a few seconds the smoke is gone. But when i idle and rev the car hard the smoke is back. This note was copied from a BMW Technical Training manual Note: If the exhaust system produces blue smoke , it is necessary to check whether the engine is also drawing oil into the combustion chamber through the crankcase breather, which suggest that there is a fault in the area of the crankcase breather.
