When I run it on EcoMode it smokes a lot less. Burning oil will be slightly bluish and sometimes not easily discernible. Honda GX6Crazy Amount of White Smoke While working today my engine just blew a puff of white smoke and shut off. Might be oil blowing up though the breather.

We put a bottle of oil in it, filled it with gas and it seemed to be fine for several minutes. But then it started smelling like exhaust and then started blowing out a lot of smoke. Any help is appreciated. All that white smoke you get when you cold start an old diesel, same thing. On your small engine you just had a misfire for some reason.


In transmission fluid case, the engine is sucking the fluid through a vacuum hose, which leads to the color white from smoke. On a 4-Stroke (usually Honda ) the smoke typically blows out of the crankcase vent rather than the exhaust pipe. Routine maintenance helps prevent many smoke related issues but old seals or gaskets and certainly a big crash can cause fluid leaks. However, after it experienced a heavy load the generator began putting out lots of white or gray smoke.


Either the crankcase breather has failed or the oil is contaminated. Has a chinese engine, 5. Last time I started it, ran fine for about seconds then started smoking LOTS of white smoke. Took out plug and it has oil.

Please help can’t afford a car right now. If you the white smoke consistently comes out and the sweet odor smell is present, then it is definitely a problem with your coolant leaking. I havent used the Honda in awhile, probaly months.


I store it with a full tank and stabilizers in the gas. I took it last outing and when I started it, it started smoking white smoke , now a dont mean a little smoke , full white smoke stream coming out the. When the generator starts, a huge cloud of white smoke comes out of the tail pipe.


After that first plume, there is no further smoke. Had driven miles (have 25K overall) at mph on highway with kids (on the way to a youth group camping retreat) in the Ody.
