Porsche boxster white smoke on startup

Previously, I would see this once or twice a year. It does finally stop emitting visible smo. The Boxer motor , by design, will allow oil to seep into the cylinders especially if the car sits for a day or more and will burn off as white or gray smoke on startup. Boxster BIG puff of smoke on startup.

Most people’s initial reaction when they see white smoke coming out of their exhaust, is to assume the worse…. While on rare occasion that is the case, many times it is nothing more than a bad Oil Air Separator (OAS, AOS, Air Oil Separator, etc). Parked overnight, on start-up, anywhere from a small puff to an engulfing cloud of white smoke.

Solution: replace a $valve between the PS system and “something” in the engine. The value is used to provide varing degrees of pressure to the PS system, but if it leaks the fluid flows in the opposite direction. Then on driving goes away on start up from even leaving it only minute smokes again then goes away.

When starting ,especialy cold start or after car has been parked for an hour or so ,huge puff of white smoke emmitted by exhaust. I notice that upon start up , when the car has sat for a while, it blows a hefty amount of smoke for a moment. This is not the steam you see on a cold day, its here today, also it smells like smoke. The most obvious sign that the air-oil separator is failing is white smoke at start-up and possibly also while idling. The engine will also start to run roughly and the check engine light may eventually come on , but it is sensible to seek advice from a Porsche specialist before that stage to avoid the risk of expensive damage to other parts.

If your vehicle is belching white smoke upon start-up, it is a sign that transmission fluid is entering the combustion chambers, possibly though a vacuum tube that connects the engine to the transmission. I also note white smoke coming out of exhaust. You need to do your research carefully.

There are lots of resources on the web. Occasional white smoke is normal, depends how engine internals happened to be positioned when it was last stopped. Now if you have it every start , and car does not seem to be running with usual smoothness or power, then it is likely MAF sensor or AOS needs replacing. Every now and then during start up I get white smoke from the exhaust. Mechanic said not to worry but I find it unsettling when it happens.

Anything that can be done or is that the nature of the beast. It happen 2-times in the winter. I drove it some threw winter months and didnt really notice it much. Puff of white smoke that lingers around the garage for about 30secends with no smell. Since the boxster has a flat six engine, the cylinders and pistons are laying down.

Especially if the car sits a while, you get a puff of smoke upon start up. The baffle that Porsche designed for use in the Xmotors is much better but the rubber material used for the doors tends to distort and come apart from heat and oil contamination. The smoke is very intense when the car is sitting for over night but gradually clears in about minutes. Learn about this problem, why it occurs, and how to fix it.

Sorry if this is a bit dull.
