Kohler engine smokes white

The most common contaminant will be gasoline that has leaked from the carburetor. I have to put 3-ounces of oil in eat day before starting. I am not leaking oil on trailer or floor. Several times in the past two weeks the engine just starts blowing white smoke. I buy 1-mowers each year, most with BS engines , some with Kohler. After draining the oil, I noticed that almost twice as much oil came out from the engine. After putting in fresh oil, I started the tractor.

Briggs smokes on startup for ~seconds, it uses 10wWalmart Synthetic. Just the little seal got sucked into the bottom of the valve. It was blowing pure black smoke ! Courage hp Kohler engine. Same one used in Craftsmen IIRC. Many things could cause the engine to start smoking and using oil. It runs and cuts great but every now and again while going downhill with the tractor slanted to the right it will let out a puff of blue smoke , which I assume is burnt oil.
