This is somewhat normal. Same goes for when asking for much power when the engine is cold. Does Size Really Matter? By popping I mean pressure waves of some kind.
When it does this, there is NO visible smoke. At low RPM, everything seems normal, other than a little white smoke , the Bmight be a contributor here. Need some help with an Cummins 6. The truck was tuned months ago and had been running with no problems until about a week ago. The owner said the truck started smoking black any time he was on the throttle and occasionally he would get a fuel knock along with white smoke.
Have the injectors run through, that would be a good first step. Also you can check the sealing wahsers under the delivery valve seats. Diesel Smoke tells YOU a Story. Basically, smoke from a diesel engine indicates that something is not right. It should be taken as an indication that there is a problem existing (or developing), that will potentially shorten the engine life, or result in unnecessary costs.
Popping and white smoke Well at the time I had boost leaks, weak fuel pressure, and all sorts of problems so it was hard to say what the cause was. Dies if given to much fuel on idle or driving, then hard to start and blows white smoke and rough idle. Only does this with a cold engine. Has a new overflow valve.
White Smoke Indicates a Faulty Fuel SysteTime for a Fuel Injector Service. The key of longevity for any engine is regular maintenance. Any time you see a change in the behavior, you need to address it.
I do not believe your white smoke is oil but fuel from your VP4 I heard this same story (and had it happen to me) too many times. You may be loosing oil in the form of a leak but the white smoke your talking about sounds more like fuel which leads me to believe your VPis saying bye bye. TDC and plunger lift to determine timing. In the forum you will find an informative tech area, a place for Member’s journals, Vendors with special Members pricing, and more! So if it would idle for 10min the smoke would disappear because the high temp would compensate for the lower compression.
L Cummins engine, and I am having some problems. Sometimes when it is col the truck sputters and blows white smoke , and it takes a few minutes to clear out. It seems we get a lot of questions about white smoke from a deleted truck. Old school diesel guys know white smoke is quite common when the engine is cold.
White smoke is just unburned or poorly combusted diesel fuel. Condensation that accumulates inside the exhaust pipes, converter and mufflers can produce a puff of white smoke upon diesel engine start-up. In very cold temperatures, the heated exhaust can freeze into minute fuel droplets when exiting the exhaust and produce a more prolonged emission of white smoke for a very short period of driving time.
I have a pair of 4bta-2motors in 28. My next door neighbor recently bought a used SeaRay with twin 8. Temp, EGT, Boost is fine. A brand new diesel engine running at full load will experience a little bit of blow-by upon startup. Blow-by is a condition where diesel fuel, air and vapor are pushed past the rings into the crankcase of the engine.
The generator has about 5hours on it. I just started experiencing pretty heavy white smoke coming out of the port-side exhaust.
