The smoke goes away after a minute or two and does not come back when the engine is warm, and it does not get worse if revved when warm. Smoke at Startup then Dissapears was created by ironheader When I start up I get White Smoke then once i drive it and get the temperature up it disappears. But when i turn it off and turn it back on 5mins later I get the white smoke again, but once it gets a bit hotter it disappears. Grand Prix GT not a S. Just replaced upper intake Plenum with gaskets and new PCV plus cleaned throttle body and replaced bad MAF sensor. Now car starts rough and sends a white plum of smoke right after ignition but that quickly goes away.
Car is noe losing a lot of oil somewhere and there are no apparent leaks. RE: white smoke on startup ? If it’s steam , not smoke , you have a coolant leak. If you’re certain it’s smoke then you likely have weak or worn valve guides.
The oil leaks past them all the time, but when you park the oil falls past them and sits in the cylinder until you fire it up again. The oil burns away , white (blue) smoke , and looks clean until next time. White smoke from exhaust upon cold start - Car.
If there is only smoke on start up, which goes away when the truck gets warmed up, it is likely unburned fuel. An injector with stiction can cause an issue where the combustion temperatures are not high enough to completely burn the fuel. But if it never happened before and now suddenly you see it then maybe. Gt-Turbo, 1miles, Has anyone else noticed white vapor like exhaust smoke in the mornings that goes away after the engine warms up? Just wondering if this is typical on Kia.
Love the car so far, hope it has a long life. It usually does not go away though. If it is using coolant, it could be the head gasket. Check your coolant level. If you have bad valve guide seals they will smoke for a bit, then go away.
This is detectable through a leak down test. White steam indicates coolant leak this steam dissipates very quickly and exhaust gas should smell a little sweet. It may happen again every now and then, but not often.
If just at start up this could indicate moisture in the exhaust, this can happen when the engine is turned off and moisture forms in the exhaust through condensation from the air. If you see white smoke coming out of the car exhaust pipe in thin wisps, but only when you start the engine and not while driving, there should be no need to worry. Its not a BHG, i already had it tested for that, and im not low on coolant.
In many cases, white smoke emanating from the tailpipe (often at idle once the engine reached operating temperature) typically means a worn out injector. Now this isn’t always the case, but after some trouble shooting we’re usually the go-to shop when diesel drivers need refurbishe rebuilt, or new injectors. Mazda protege is blowing a lot of white smoke out of the exhaust when I start it in the morning and after work. So pretty much whenever it has been standing for a while. Once the 5spd swap and replacement starter installe the car starts off very quickly and no smoke.
Is your battery in good shape? Does your car start right away ? Normally, I would think would be valve seals and oil burning, but it smells nothing like oil smoke and the car does not use any oil between oil changes. It appears grayish- white in color.
Seems like every month or so, the puff gets a bit bigger.
