Lalbagh glass house

Check out the Lalbagh Glass House Bangalore. A historical garden, Lalbagh was built by former Mughal Hyder Ali, and his son Tipu Sultan. Modelled after the Mughal gardens that were fast gaining. There are two annual flower shows celebrated in the glass house. The largest collection of tropical plants in India is at Lalbagh.

Lalbagh Botanical Garden is located in Southern Bengaluru and is one of the prime most tourist attractions in India. The glass house was modeled after gardens in Sira, which was commissioned by Dilawar Khan. He proposed the construction of Glass House for the sole purpose of holding horticultural show as a conservation.

The proposal was placer before the government of Maharaja of Mysore. Marked by elegant arches, the Glass House is especially Insta-friendly during the colourful flower shows that happen during Republic and Independence Day. This area being tropical weather, it tends to get very warm during the day and is very hot during the summers as there is practically no shade anywhere in the temple.


It has a famous glass house which hosts two annual flower shows (January and August). The garden is beautifully designe with lawns, flowerbeds, lotus pools and fountains adding to its splendor. It can be called a green paradise in short.

On public holidays, the park typically hosts special events like the Lalbagh Glass House Botanical Show, a true spectacle. Project Description The renovation of the Lalbagh Glass House in Bangalore, was an enriching experience for Geodesic Techniques, as we were involved in the dismantling, detailing, refurbishment and structural work of the Glass House. The world-renowned garden is now maintained by the Directorate of Horticulture, Government of Karnataka.


With the flower show done, I went ahead towards the famed Lalbagh Lake. This is a classic case of heritage meets nature for Lalbagh is full of these treasures. This heritage tree is a Cook Pine species and stands tall in front of the glass house. It is in this glass house that the flower shows are held every Republic and Independence Day. The botanical garden will be riot of colours during these two months.

Apart from the display of dazzling varieties of flowers inside the Glass house of Lalbagh , the whole garden will see colourful flowers. Initially designed in Mughal style, on the model of an extensive garden at Sira in Tumkur near Bangalore, this garden was further developed by Hyder Ali’s son Tipu Sultan Today, nearly 6genera and 8species of plants are found in Lalbagh. Of the many artistic structures in Lalbagh , the Glass House is the most famous.


Sir John Cameron was the Lalbagh Superintendent at that time. We meet at the Lalbagh Glass House , facing the Bandstan approx at around 7. The Glass House was designed on the lines of Crystal Palace in England and has an area of 10sq. Japanese garden, before turning back towards the lake.
