Sudden white smoke from exhaust

The most common reason for white smoke from the exhaust pipe that is condensed in the exhaust pipe. White smoke that is like vapor and disappears soon could majorly be because of condensation. Steam is emitted by condensation in exhaust pipe which is seen at exhaust emission. Damaged Coolant Reservoir Tank Another area that can leak coolant is the coolant reservoir tank. White smoke will be released when even small amounts of coolant enter the combustion chamber. If this is the cause, then the exhaust smoke may come with a sweet smell. When white smoke is spewing from your exhaust , it is usually an indication that something is burning.

One cause of white smoke from the exhaust might be the engine leaking coolant. If the engine leaks coolant , it will be burned by the heat of the engine and then come out as smoke from the exhaust.

A problem with antifreeze might also be causing white smoke to come from the exhaust. As the engine warms up and the condensation dissipates the white exhaust smoke ( steam ) is no longer seen. A blown head gasket will allow the coolant to leak.

The main cause of smoke from exhaust when accelerating is due to a burning coolant or transmission fluid problem. White smoke arises from the normal condensation of wispy vapors in the exhaust pipe. If the smoke is thin like air vapor, then, you have got no problem. The denser the smoke the bigger the problem, which may be cracked engine block, damaged cylinder hea or blown head gasket.

When the coolant is heated up, it will produce white smoke. Open the hood and check for any noticeable coolant leaks. Remember that the coolant gets over 90c hot and you should be very careful when checking this. White smoke coming from the exhaust usually points to one point of failure: the injectors.

Usually, white smoke indicates that the diesel fuel is not burning correctly. Unburned diesel fuel will make its way through the exhaust completely unused. Be careful of white smoke as it will irritate your eyes and skin.

White smoke often occurs when there is either too much fuel being injected into the combustion chamber, or not enough heat to burn the fuel. The black smoke may show there is a return fuel line which is obstructed. Fuel injectors and sensors might also be damaged.

This kind of smoke disappears. A final problem which can be diagnosed from black smoke is problem with the air filter.
