If the vehicle is idealing there is plenty of white smoke but not contentious. Sprinter Diesel blows white smoke after long idle. Just wanted to know if anybody else has experienced the issue when after long idle (min) then a 50m drive (very hot day 37c) the van starts to bellow white smoke for a about a minute.
After shutting down the engine, checking oil, water etc (all ok) a re-start was initiated with no smoke at all. So you need to keep your eye on coolant level and check your engine for overheat. Exhaust Smoke Types (BLACK, WHITE AND BLUE).
A year ago it started blowing Blue smoke from the exhaust. It used too smoke for around two days every two weeks. The first garage thought it was the exhaust regenerating itself. Changed a few things but never.
Hi I have a plate sprinter on tick over it pumps out white smoke and. White smoke =water vapour. Burning oil, whether it is engine oil or trans fluid will not cause white smoke from the exhaust. I would start with a compression test and a cooling system pressure test to trace the white smoke from the exhaust.
It blows a lot of black smoke mainly when accelerating. It consumes a bit of oil also. Has any one had this problem? Any info will be appreciated.
Every so often the oil blows out the oil cap and other areas. The mechanic says it is probably the piston going. Mechanic said maybe i was using the wrong oil. It is normal to see white smoke from the exhaust during sub-zero and colder weather, at least until the engine warms up. The Car has no oil dipstick but the oil sensor will come up saying the oil level is to high then the smoke starts. I have had the oil level changed out then lowered twice.

The 2sprinter is a great van. One reason for white smoke is very common and completely harmless. HDI Expert which was doing the exact same thing as yours, blowing thick black smoke , sluggish and loss of power on gradients, a hissing sound and surging. ANSWERIT is almost certainly the injector with the wire attaching to it. Either change the injector £2or take it out and feed the wire to anoher injector.
However, it can only deliver these qualities because of the refinement and sophistication of its turbodiesel engine engine and control systems.
