A popping sound coming from your engine can be bad news. If you suddenly hear a loud pop or bang in the engine area, pull over to the side of the road and check it out. Be on the lookout for smoke or fire, two things you should never see under the hood. While driving down the interstate, there was a loud pop and all of a sudden white smoke came pouring from the engine bay, and before the incident there was never any overheating taking place. If this happens, you will notice white smoke from the engine bay.
How to fix white smoke coming from the engine. Leaking coolant is a leading cause for white smoke coming from the engine. And then a very loud pop noise came from my engine and a lot of white smoke poured out of the hood and exhaust, I drove it around today as I was on my way to the auto shop and it seemed fine, no problems then. I thought i had fixed the leak so i was driving and i hear a loud pop sound.
Then white smoke was coming out of the exhaust. There was also smoke coming from the exhaust manifold. If the smoke is coming from under your hoo that probably means you ignored white smoke coming out of the tailpipe, and now your engine is overheating. Or maybe you completely forgot to add coolant at all, and the engine overheated.
Not that anyone would ever do that. Get shopping advice from experts, friends and the community! Popping sound , white smoke , stopped getting spark and fuel it will turn over manually when pulling starter seems like building up head pressure starter will snap back. At times will try to start, white vapor comes out exhaust and starter will kick back.
Depends on what went pop. What color was the smoke ? If it was white and the engine was hot you may be lucky and just have blown a radiator hose. If the smoke was black or blue that would be more in line with an oil leak which may still not be the end of your car. You need to have someone look under the hook and determine where the pop sound.
When I stopped the car, there was a loud noise coming from the engine. After opening the hoo there was white smoke coming out with the smell of burning rubber. The engine was off but the smell persisted. Now, the car WILL start with no problem after this happens, and it runs fine.
White smoke from engine and pop sound when attempting to start car. All it does is make a pop sound and smoke white from somewhere underneath the engine block. Last evening I saw white smoke coming out from the engine and heard a strange sound coming from it. Four miles later, the rattling got worse and did not stop.
I pulled into a parking lot just as the engine died and smoke poured out from under the hood. The hood release is broken, so it takes some time to pop it. By the time I got it open, the smoke was gone so I did not see where it was coming from. Could not see any obvious problems.
I was driving on the interstate, nothing unusual. My car then died and motor oil had leaked all over.
