The Ellsworth interchange will speed up commute times for many commuters, as well. All of these are planned in addition to the 2South Mountain Freeway , not necessarily in place of it.


Of course, they were all based on assumptions of population and traffic during the boom years. A wider freeway is neede say project backers, because I-2is a “freight and commuter bypass” to the I-corridor (see above) and it frequently backs up with congestion.
