White smoke coming from under the hood

Why is white smoke coming out of my cars tail pipes? What is the cause of white smoke from the engine? What does the white smoke from my exhaust mean?

White smoke coming from under the hood

The oil filler cap in almost all the engines releases a faint whiff of smoke , which is a residue of the burnt fuel inside the engine. Older engines produce more hot spots, which make the car smoking under hood but not overheating. If the smoke is coming from under your hood , that probably means you ignored white smoke coming out of the tailpipe, and now your engine is overheating. Or maybe you completely forgot to add coolant at all, and the engine overheated. Not that anyone would ever do that.

The most common cause of white smoke from under the hood of a vehicle is an overheated engine. In this case, the driver is actually seeing steam from the radiator instead of smoke. However, if a burning smell accompanies the smoke , there is likely another type of fluid leak. Smoke coming from the exhaust may appear to be dispersing from under the hood in some cases.

White smoke coming from under the hood

I have white smoke coming from under the hood on the passenger side and it also comes out by the driver side front tire. I cannot tell for sure where it is coming from. It only happens after the car has warmed up. If it was white smoke , I’d presume that it is coolant.

The first thing you should have done is open the hood and see where the smoke was coming from. It may have been at night, but a flashlight would have helped you find the source of the smoke. Now it’s kind of hard to diagnose the problem.

Sometimes cars just smoke. White smoke comin from hood passenger. Normally though, smoke from under the hood is an indication that something isn’t working right. Kinds of smoke from your car.

When you have smoke coming from under the hood it can be from a range of things, and the color of the smoke can help you figure out what it is. When I open the hood , I see the white smoke coming from the area which I highlighted with red in the first picture. The second picture is a zoom-in of the first one.

You will probably notice there what I suspect as oil being collected in that engine area and when the engine heats up, the oil is burnt. You can tell by looking at dip stick if the oil has a creamy white substance there is antifreeze getting in oil (blown head gasket) or if ther is excessive white smoke coming from exhaust pipe upon acceleration. So I stop at a gas station, with jus. Since I was near a gas station, I decided to pull in and open up the hood and I noticed that the smoke was coming from mainly around the engine.

I checked all the fluids. One of the main causes of white exhaust smoke and coolant loss is a cracked or warped cylinder hea a cracked engine block, or head gasket failure caused by overheating. A cracked head may allow coolant to leak into one or more cylinders or into the combustion chamber of the engine.

It happend this moring after mins drive to super market. The service department is closed today and I have to wait till Wednesday morning to bring it in.
