Mango mela lalbagh

As we walked through Lalbagh there was a sweet smell of flowers in the air but the trees refused to give us any cool breeze. It is held for a month and is an event that attracts mango lovers from around the city. BENGALURU: About varieties of mangoes , the ‘king of fruits’, will be up for grabs at Lalbagh from Friday. One such fair was held at Lalbagh in Bengaluru.

Here is how the mela kic. The mango and jackfruit fair at the Lalbagh Botanical Garden , opposite to Glass House, will be held from May to June 15. Various farmers from across the country will participate in this fruit mela which is organized by the Department of Horticulture. It is that time of the year which completely transforms my diet plan.

CM Siddaramaiah Inaugurated Horticulture Department Annual Fruit Festival. The mango festival is a must visit during the season, for organic mangoes. The garden is of course not the same what it used to be when i used to visit years back. What better way to celebrate it than by spending time at Lalbagh with ripe and juicy mangoes.

Selling varieties at the annual mango mela, expect badami, mallika and kalapad. The fruits are organic and grown naturally so pamper yourself. My morning started with big hug from my daughter accompanied with a self-decorated card and a nice little golden flower made out of throw-away plastic bottle. The most awaited 20-day mango and jack fruit mela will be held from May at Lalbagh Botanical Gardens.

The fair, which saw growers from Kolar, Chikkaballapur and Ramanagara districts manning more than 1stalls, will be on till June 26. Mango, manga, mavinhannu, aam. The sheer range of varieties is mind boggling. Some I had heard of Mallika,Badami,Alphonso,Raspuri,Totapuri,Neelum to name a few.

But the others -Lilly, Panchavarnam, Sendhura, Terpentine- never heard of them. So much of yellow and so much fragrance all around me. The event started on Friday. L Gopalakrishna, chairman, KSMDMCL said that the aim of the mela is to ensure. Initially the authorities had called off the mela owing to a low yield of mangoes, this year but they had a last minute change of plans.

However there are only varieties of the fruit on display,. Farmers from districts across the State will participate. Nagaraj, “We are putting up stalls. My sister in law also happily agreed to join us. This garden is a home to a variety of flora and fauna.

There are many different kinds of bird species found here like Myna, Common Egret, Parakeets, and Pond Heron etc. I went to Lalbagh to check out mango and jackfruit festival. Lalbagh is one of the big gardens in Bengaluru, with a popular glass house in the centre, a lake and many other attractions.

Twice an year, during republic day and Independence day, flower show is organized in Lalbagh , exhibiting wide variety of flowers.
