Vw passat white smoke from exhaust

Vw passat white smoke from exhaust

My VW Passat started giving out white smoke from the exhaust while in motion. One of the hoses of coolant system had swollen up on and was replaced. There is a smell of gas was coming from inside cabin so mechanic had replaced the valve gasket , but there was still white smoke.

When there is white smoke coming from the exhaust , it can mean a few things. It’s not necessarily anything to be concerned about. But, a LOT of it can be a sign of big trouble. Overnight, condensation can collect in the exhaust which will turn into steam as your engine warms up. Sounds to me that you have some serious issues with your car.

First of all white smoke =coolant. If your turbo was failing it will usually dump oil into the exhaust creating blue smoke. As far as the check engine light flashing. That is telling you NOT to continue driving. You will damage your catalytic converter if you drive for a prolonged amount.

After ignition there is no smoke for the first minutes. Smoke is white , neither grey nor black. The fact that the white smoke only occurs during hard acceleration , might make this more difficult to track down, as it does not happen at idle (where one can sniff the exhaust ). Engine runs smooth but does not appear to lossing any fluids. Check the condition of your engine oil and make sure it is not milky white or has bubbles in it.

This will cause white smoke, along with the idle issue. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but good luck. If it’s operating in tip-top shape, tailpipe emissions should be nearly undetectable. TDI with particulate filter has a few times send a large amount of white smoke out from the exhaust pipe, it have been smoking for minutes and then back to normal. Consulting the maual has only given my an idea that could be that the particulate filter are burning particles but.

Condensation that accumulates inside the exhaust pipes, converter and mufflers can produce a puff of white smoke upon diesel engine start-up. In very cold temperatures, the heated exhaust can freeze into minute fuel droplets when exiting the exhaust and produce a more prolonged emission of white smoke for a very short period of driving time. White smoke often occurs when there is either too much fuel being injected into the combustion chamber, or not enough heat to burn the fuel. I did a bit of digging around online and stuff and most sites said to check coolant levels etc.

Now the yellow engine light on dashboard was flickering. Our certified mobile mechanics come to you days a week between AM and PM. Skip navigation Sign in.

When i start engine for ore min it have a white smoke from exhaust. Reasons for blue exhaust smoke include bad valve seals, valve train wear in general, the PCV valve, burning transmission fluid and more. TSi - White exhaust smoke when warm.

Been back to dealers no fault found by plugging in diagnostics, emissions test ok,they told me it was water vapour due to cold air passing over catalytic converter. I pull away in traffic I can see smoke and I am worried only done 10k,what to do next.
