Riding mower blowing white smoke

What causes white cloud of smoke from a riding lawn mower? Should you use your lawn mower during the white smoke? Is your diesel blowing white smoke? You can usually correct this problem by cleaning the air filter. Blue or white smoke means the engine is burning oil.


Most of the time, the lawn mower smoke will stop on its own. The fix is simple, check the mower for oil, and let the engine idle until the smoke clears. If your lawn mower is a tractor mower , white smoke usually means too much oil, carburettor fault, or blown head gasket. A lawnmower that emits white smoke probably has an engine that is burning oil.


This is most likely caused by the oil being overfilled or the engine receiving an excess of oxygen. Lawnmower engines also burn oil when they are filled with an incorrect grade of oil. I was putting new oil in it and then started it up.


It started smoking white smoke. Too much oil in the engine. While black smoke is caused by the burning of more fuel than air, blue or white smoke is generally caused by the burning of excess oil. If I turn to level, it stops, and there is no problem going uphill.


I checked the oil level which is in the low part of operating range, and the grade is around degrees (less than 15). I suspected that gas mixed in with the oil due to fuel flooding the carb and into the crankcase. My oil level was times the. When I first started the mower it did this but it eventually stopped after riding around for a few mins. I went ahead and put a little seafoam in it and drove it around. If any of those elements or their components is missing or operating improperly, chances are your Troy-Bilt mower will emit blue, white or black smoke.


It did studder a bit as the smoke was coming out. I thought nothing of it, as the mower kept going full power. Each time it happene I opened the cover as I was riding and noticed the engine was FINE. JD LT1belched out white smoke and chocked herself out. Let stand 10min, checked oil (looked ok) started her back up and nersed her back to barn with white smoke filling the yard.

Had her for years, mows 1. I bought a use mower from a guy and the mower did not have but a little oil in it. I went to mow the back yard last week, it started fine, but as soon as I engaged the mower deck, or put a load on it, heavy white smoke started coming out of it. I have it serviced every year.


As soon as I disengage the mower blades, the white smoke quits.
