Kings Park Community Survey. It is rich in Aboriginal and European history, contemporary culture and offers innovative design, displays and services. A big thanks to the 1people – more than of delegates – who completed our online evaluation survey. The park is a mixture of grassed parklan botanical gardens and natural bushland on Mount Eliza with two-thirds of the grounds conserved as native bushland. It’s a peaceful escape from the hustle of the city, and a photographer’s dream.

Stopping in the visitor’s centre first, we picked up two self-guided trail maps. The Botanic Garden sits on hectares within the park. It is one of the largest inner city botanical gardens in the world. Well worth the visit with hassle free parking, lots of shade and lots of Exploring, Learning and Playing.


The park itself is huge and incorporates a native Australian botanical garden. The main entry, along Fraser Avenue, is lined with magnificent lemon-scented gums, while each tree on the other roads is dedicated to a fallen soldier. Two thirds of the 4hectare park is protected as bushland and provides a haven for native biological diversity. It is considered to be the most popular attraction in West Australia, drawing over million visitors annually.
