Tilden park botanical garden

Located within Tilden Park in the hills above Berkeley, California, this enchanting 10-acre garden is a sanctuary for many of the state’s rare and endangered plants and a place for visitors to wander among trees, shrubs, flowers, and grasses from plant communities throughout the state. Entry is free and their volunteers and park staff do a beautiful job on maintaining the grounds. April and May are particularly nice when the flowers are blooming and everything is rejuvenating from winter. Lots of paths wind through the gardens. Dogs are not permitted in the Tilden Nature Area.

This Berkeley park has more than 0acres of activity for the whole family, including trails for hiking and biking, picnic grounds and a golf course. Relax in the grass or take a ride on the scaled-down steam train along the park rsquo;s scenic ridge. A close friend and colleague of James B. Roof, the garden’s founding director, Dr Bacigalupi was able to recount the garden’s history from the vantage point of one who had been there through all of the critical developments of the first quarter century.

It is home to various endangered and endemic plant species. The garden features beautiful landscapes with various species of plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees. The park also provides activities and garden tours for tourists and eco-lovers. Upon walking into it you instantly feel how happy you are to be alive. This was easily one of the most impressive living collections I have ever seen. The botanical garden at Tilden Park is one of my favorite getaways in the East Bay.
