Mini Cooper S exhaust Smoke. White smoke is a sign that there is coolant entering the combustion chamber. Most likely caused by a blown head gasket.


Stop driving the car until you can have this repaired. Otherwise if you do have coolant entering the combustion chamber you will destroy the engine. The smoke persists throughout the drive. It sounds perfectly fine.


I had to Take it back to the garage because they hadn’t changed a seal and it was leaking oil. I had also flagged to them that it was intermittently billowing white smoke. It appears they did not address the issue with the white smoke from the exhaust.


If the car idles for more than about a minute white smoke will come out of the exhaust. It is def not blue smoke. Does not smoke while driving, on startup, or for momentary idle. We’ll assume that you are seeing more white smoke from the exhaust than you are accustomed.


Problems, Questions and Technical: Evening, Well El Gordo seems to have taken up smoking on start up now. I get a nice bit of white smoke from the exhaust on start up. Lasts about 5mins then its gone. I did think she was running a bit rich El Gordo. Under acceleration, about 3-4k upwards there is white smoke coming out the exhaust.


Just wondered what this could be really. Car ran fine with old MINI Cooper S turbo and this mod. I feel pretty comfortable doing most troubleshooting and working on my cars. So during the test drive of this car, I get the car to what I think is operating temperature (more on this later) and let it idle for minutes. If I continue to drive the car the smoke continue to come out.


The white smoke is the result of normal condensation which builds up inside the exhaust system. This is probably the result of normal condensation buildup inside the. The dealer advised me to run the car hard at high revs, which would fix the problem. This is very serious and will cause severe engine damage.

Condensation can turn to vapor, providing what looks like white exhaust. But excessive white smoke likely means coolant is leaking into the engine combustion chambers. When I drove home late that night, the car was not smoking.


After that time the car would smoke if I drove it longer distances. Help on white smoke out of exhaust of 750iL. Recently in a days time it started expelling white smoke from the exhaust, and has a slight miss perhaps too but not real noticeable.


Water does not make smoke , it makes steam. EDIT: Even if steam looked like smoke , it takes a minute for the exhaust to heat up to the point that water would turn to steam on it. The temperature gauge didnt go up, nor was the engine smoky when I opened th bonnet. I drove it very slowly to work and checked the oil to see if there was a mix of that and water - the oil seems fine.
