2008 Silverado 5 3 white smoke on startup

The vehicle still burns oil, and smokes excessively upon startup. I mean rite at startup. This did work for me and it cured the problem. Please if you do this, may sure you get.


L Silverado with 190miles and have been experiencing white smoke at start up since 100k. It has not been consistent but usually happens in the morning. The white smoke has also been observed during the day but rare. GMC Chevy Tahoe Yukon SOLVED!

Everything was fine during the 0miles of the break-in. Vwith 0miles on it.


I have continued to remotely start it to monitor the exhaust and it’s output. On them, the seals would break down from the heat cycles over the years and start leaking. When I start it up, I often get a pretty big cloud of blue smoke. I started the truck and found myself engulfed in a cloud of oil smoke. Ok so I have a with a 5. I change the oil every.


It doesnt do it everytime, but here and there it does. I brought it into a dealership and chevy has issued a bulletin regarding this. The lifter(s) are propelling too much oil into the valve chamber and filling it.


Take that truck into the dealer and have them repair it under the powertrain warranty. The smoke on startup is the result of oil getting past the valves. L that is smoking pretty bad on start up after it has been sitting overnight or after work. If you own a GM truck or other vehicle with a 5. L smoking on startup , you should read this.


When starting the vehicle after it has sat for a while you’ll get some bluish white smoke from the exhaust. You’re burning oil, but relax. It’s most likely oil that has seeped into the vacuum hose through the PCV valve.


Has done it times in past week. Smoke clears up while driving and does not reappear while stopped and idling (like stopped at a light). If I park for a few minutes then, come back and start it white smoke reappears until i start driving. After a couple weeks I noticed that at idle the engine would stumble and my rpms would drop slightly. It eventually set off the check engine light with cylinder misfire and random cylinder misfire.


A couple days later the light went off but the issues remain. Important Smoke on start up. Just replaced Valve seals and that did not help.
