Hi, ok, the white smoke and electrical smell is from something shorting out. Without being there to pull the steering column and instrument cluster to inspect the wiring, I cannot say whether it is safe or not to drive, nor I can I say what caused it. Today (-25C or -13F) I was driving my car to the gym when I noticed white smoke coming from the dash (driver side), where the windshield meets. I pulled over and noticed the bottom of my windshield has been.


The oil filler cap in almost all the engines releases a faint whiff of smoke , which is a residue of the burnt fuel inside the engine. It didnt really smell like anything, just a burst of smoke came out at one time, from the driver side vents, like the car was overheating in the engine bay or something and it was coming in the car vents but the car wasnt overheating weiiiird. I doubt it was my stereo wiring cause my CD player was on at the time, it still plays fine. Or maybe you completely forgot to add coolant at all, and the engine overheated. Not that anyone would ever do that. Was driving home and noticed some puffs of white smoke coming fron in between my dash and windshield on the drivers side and smelt of burnt electrical stuff.

Dash in that area was cool. Checked the fuses, nothing out of the ordinary there. Looked around to see if i could see or smell anything, nothing. Anyways one day I was driving to class and I noticed this white smoke coming out from the AC vents and dashboard. I was almost there so I continued on without much worry, anyways it didnt happen for about days and then just yesterday it happened again.


My car has an automatic transmission. This time I could also smell. Based on your description it sounds like your engine is overheating. Be sure not to drive the car if.


But all jokes aside, a bit of smoke coming through the ventilation system need not necessarily spell doom for. Why is Steam Coming from My Car’s Air Vents ?
