Stepping in, I was impressed by chic open kitchen front, decorated simply with a basket of green apples. The high tea spread includes smoked salmon rolled with avocado mousse, tauhu goreng salut telur, succulent roast beef with black pepper and mushroom s, fried kuih teow, cendol and ais kacang. There are many entrances to the Botanic Gardens, so just walk to the Orchid gardens side. Not surprising though, since the food is actually pretty good. Perfectly grilled (and super fresh!) succulent prawns are the crowning glory of this Asian-inspired salad.


Accompanying them are sweet mango pieces, fresh greens and tomatoes all sitting atop a bed of glass noodles. Thank you Vanilla Luxury for the mention! The word ‘halia’ means ginger in Malay. Directly adjacent to the restaurant , the Halia bar occupies a large open-air space in the colonnaded hallways of the Raffles Hotel complex. In addition to the leather upholstered bar counter seats, timber high tables and chairs offer a casual, relaxed environment for refreshing drinks.


The use of ginger is distinctly found in their dishes. Paperbag oven-baked halibut fillet ($33) - with soy and ginger broth, sesame Japanese rice, wakame, wasabi aioli, ginger flower sambal. Surrounded by an abundance of flora, this eatery offers rustic wooden tables and open-air porches, allowing diners to unwind as they feast. Restaurant in a garden and a garden in a restaurant. Chic and contemporary, Halia offers the ideal setting for fine dining, business lunches, corporate events, tea with friends, small weddings or intimate dinner dates.


Halia is one of my favourite restaurants because it gives me the warm and fuzzies. Definitely one of the best places my fiance and I have been to on those rare special occasion date nights. Galia, it is high time to make the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site!

This is my second visit, and again I loved it! Halia” drew its name from the Ginger Garden nearby, and is indeed a scenic get-away place for that relaxing brunch or romantic dinner in earthy greenery. Singapore Sling is the best in town! But the term in itself sounds posh enough. It’s in the Dining Experience.


Fresh oysters, perfectly cooked seafoo tender steaks and dessert prepared to perfection - the menu will impress a discerning gourmet. The restaurant does have an outdoor seating area with tables and waiter service but it’s best to contact the restaurant. There were no dogs when I was there, either indoors or outdoors, but I have read that at least one other restaurant in the Botanic Gardens allows dogs. When they sent the address, I thought that they had either sent the wrong address or I got the name of the restaurant wrong. I mean, everyone knew THE Halia was at Botanical Gardens right?

Turns out I was wrong on both counts. The result is an unobtrusive dining room with full height glass windows,. The Halia serves Western cuisine with a local touch.
