The smoke goes away after a minute or two and does not come back when the engine is warm, and it does not get worse if revved when warm. But when i turn it off and turn it back on 5mins later I get the white smoke again, but once it gets a bit hotter it disappears. Dean, 5woil is fine, Some white smoke at start up from cold engine is fairly normal and will dissipate (stop) for the most part after engine and exhaust has warmed up to operating temperature. After about hrs on engine it has started smoking on cold startup.
Quite a bit of white smoke , for about 2-minutes then quits. Plug is light tan, runs perfect. RE: white smoke on startup ? If you’re certain it’s smoke then you likely have weak or worn valve guides.
The oil leaks past them all the time, but when you park the oil falls past them and sits in the cylinder until you fire it up again. The oil burns away , white (blue) smoke , and looks clean until next time. White smoke from exhaust upon cold start - Car. So the smoke produced is white , if the oil is out to the intake then the oil will enter the combustion room and come burned during the power stroke that produces white smoke.
But if it never happened before and now suddenly you see it then maybe. Check coolant level for. Grand Prix GT not a S. Just replaced upper intake Plenum with gaskets and new PCV plus cleaned throttle body and replaced bad MAF sensor.
Now car starts rough and sends a white plum of smoke right after ignition but that quickly goes away. Car is noe losing a lot of oil somewhere and there are no apparent leaks. Major red flag for a potential customer.
After a combination of light reving and letting it idle, it smooths out and the smoke goes away. When they go you get a puff of smoke at startup (from the oil that settled into the cylinders), then the smoke goes away. During the recent colder weather (but still above freezing) my TDI has been producing quite a lot of white smoke at start up.
It last for a couple of hundred yards of driving an then disappears. It never used to do this. In every other way the car starts and drives normally and has no black smoke.
Let it run for a minute or so then press the gas rapidly in succession for - seconds make sure you rev that baby good. Then when you start it in the morning it smokes white until it burns the coolant out of that cylinder. I have white smoke at start-up, then goes away as it warms up 5-minutes. I am also using coolant. I bought it with 70and has 80now.
I notice it has a new egr value, so I ruled it out. It has 149k on it cai, Exhaust,pusher intake,heater delete and exhaust manifold. Everything else is stock. Is this normal or is something about to go out.
No programmer on it either. It just lasted for a few seconds and then cleared up. It usually does not go away though. If it is using coolant, it could be the head gasket.
If you have bad valve guide seals they will smoke for a bit, then go away. This is detectable through a leak down test. It may happen again every now and then , but not often. If white smoke continues to come out of your exhaust while the car is running, there are other issues at fault. One cause of white smoke from the exhaust might be the engine leaking coolant.
If the engine leaks coolant, it will be burned by the heat of the engine and then come out as smoke from the exhaust.
