It is possible that your smoke alarm “silence” button was pushed by mistake. The alarm will now “chirp” once a minute for up minutes before resetting. Other devices have similar low battery chirps or warning tones that sound like the chirp our alarms make.

First, follow these quick troubleshooting steps: Locate the reset button on the surface of the smoke detector. Hold it for 15–seconds and then release. Wait a couple of minutes and listen for the chirping noise again.


I thought it must be that the battery needs replaced because it chirps constantly when it needs a new battery but it only chirped times with a minute between each chirp.
