Is this caused by a rich carb or oil getting into the cylinders? It doesnt smoke once the car is moving or pulling away from a stop. I have a chevy 3that started smoking ( white smoke ) and I thought it was possibly a head gasket so I had the heads surfaced and replaced the head gasket etc. I got it back together it still smoked.
Now I have white smoke coming from exhaust more frequently and sometimes I notice it even when truck is running, not just on startup. The color of the smoke will indicate the problem.
