Cummins isx white smoke during regen

Putting out while smoke and regen light. White smoke In the Cummins ISX CM8and CM8is NOT necessarily air in the fuel. This is a lot of times due to High Fuel Restriction. Most likely It is due to Fuel Restriction, as You have no faults.

I would first perform a Cylinder Cutout Test, and Cutout the Injectors till the engine only runs on cylinder. I get intermittent white and blue smoke occasionaly, I think when the aftertreatment injector kicks in. It smokes for a little while, puffing out about every half secon then stops. I might see it again that same day or might not see it till the next day. Its not consistent at all.

After pretty much limping it home for a whole day that white smoke turned to a light grey smoke when I accelerated a little harder. For the most part I do feel a slight misfire, but it idles good still.

Not bad enough to set a code but not atomizing the fuel for a clean burn. Or the catalyst in front of the dpf is partially plugged and can not efficiently turn the diesel for the regen into heat so you are getting raw fuel going out the exhaust. Soot level high, parked regen failed due to not reaching temp. How to know your truck has a bad DEF Doser on Cummins ISX. Aftertreatment Differential pressure was at 2. I was only at about 650F for both rear temp.

Calibration has been performed last night by cummins and they also did a snap test which they stated the truck has passed. White smoke is a sign of water vapor or fuel that has been atomized but not burned. His truck is trying to complete a regen process in which the minute run time to or from work will not be enough to let it burn completely out.

Regeneration is the term used to describe cleaning of the DPF. During this process the ‘wet and sooty’ particulate matter is subjected to further combustion inside the DPF itself. Surface temperatures inside the DPF can exceed 6Degrees Celsius, at which point the soot turns into a hot white ash. Boost level restricted to about psi. Replaced fuel filters when loss of power occurred.

Check your oil and your coolant levels carefully. This to me sounds like an overfueling condition. Is the truck running rough or misfiring? They need to pressure test the fueling system.

White smoke coming from the exhaust usually points to one point of failure: the injectors. Usually, white smoke indicates that the diesel fuel is not burning correctly. Unburned diesel fuel will make its way through the exhaust completely unused.

Be careful of white smoke as it will irritate your eyes and skin. They do not completely stop spraying fuel when they are OFF. Observe vehicle and immediate surroundings during regeneration. Pulled the exhaust off before the doc and still have a ton of black smoke coming out pipe. EGR code but we took it off and cleaned it.

White smoke often occurs when there is either too much fuel being injected into the combustion chamber, or not enough heat to burn the fuel. First thing all of us Mechanics, automotive Diagnosticians, and Gear heads want to know is:. What kind of Vehicle are we talking about.
