The symptom is a rough idle and a gasoline smell in from the exhaust. Leaking Fuel Injector or Carburetor The fuel injectors or carburetor on your vehicle regulates fuel flow into the combustion chamber. If an injector or carburetor begins leaking fuel into the combustion chamber, it creates a rich running condition. In this case, bad seals or piston rings cause oil to leak into combustion chamber which then mixes with fuel and burns. The result is a white or light bluish smoke that comes out from exhaust manifold.
Rough idle , with white smoke and fuel out exhaust The car has a 2. There is also an excessive amount of white smoke from the exhaust. So today I take my son to tee-ball engine fully warmed up. Hour and half practice. I then took my son to lunch maybe minutes.
Went to start the truck and a ton of white smoke came out the exhaust for about seconds. The only change is the sound from the exhaust is much deeper, still sounds very rough and gives little power to the wheels. Can only make out a very small puff of the white smoke but the exhaust still smells gasy and just seems to be running rich.
Smoke coming out of your tailpipe is a scary sight, but it can mean a lot of different things. The color of the exhaust can tell you what type of repair or adjustment you might need. Why is black smoke coming out of my exhaust pipe? A car’s exhaust can tell you a lot about the state of your vehicle (and about its impact on the environment). Things can be running seemingly fine everywhere else, but smoke from the exhaust can tell a whole other story.
It sounds like you may be getting oil into the combustion chambers of your engine causing it to burn off in the exhaust. Lots of white exhaust smoke on start up is usually a sign of a head gasket problem. This is the white smoke you see. If the leak is very small, or leaking into adjacent cylinders, there may not be much smoke upon starting up, and yet still enough coolant may be pulled into the combustion chamber(s) to produce a strong sweetish exhaust smell.
Symptoms of a Bad PowerStroke Injector. Black smoke can also be attributed to restricted intake or exhaust , or a leak in the intake hose. You may see some bubbles in the coolant if you check while it is running and some loss of coolant. Unfortunately it will only get worse and there may be erosion of the block or head (Bad). I also noticed white smoke coming from the exhaust only (that I could tell) and a strong gasoline odor.
You need to adjust the valves, inspect the valve seals, guides and seats, and check your compression. After the rough idle it is perfectly fine like nothing happened and there is no more white smoke. The rough idle is super noticeable.
I figured it would run rough all the time and smoke more if there was in fact a blown head gasket. With all the work you had done, a vacuum hose could have come loose. That would cause rough idle. Smoking if all the time could be a head gasket leak. Not an hour later, on the way to work, at a stoplight, I notice that the idle is a little rough.
I put the car in gear and take off, and it stumbles a bit, there is a whisp of white smoke from under the hoo and a poof of white smoke from the exhaust. Definitely burning coolant. White smoke comes out of the tail pipe on idle and there is a gas smell. My car idles rough when idling and with white smoke coming from the tail pipe. One cause of white smoke from the exhaust might be the engine leaking coolant.
If the engine leaks coolant, it will be burned by the heat of the engine and then come out as smoke from the exhaust. A problem with antifreeze might also be causing white smoke to come from the exhaust. Antifreeze is used to stop your car from seizing up in cold weather.
