Onan generator blowing white smoke

I got everything hooked up and it fired up on the second try, that was the good news. The problem I have now is that it just bellows white smoke. It sounds like it is running ok but I have to image that the white smoke is not a good sign.

Hi everyone, I need a little help on figuring this out. We just got home from a trip and I am bringing the MH back to the dealership for a safety recall and some other odds and ends that need to get fixed. It releases slightly more when throttling up and turning on the pto. I know that it is burning. It was still running when I shut it down.

Each time I start cold it it runs really rough with black smoke. I replaced the gasoline just to be safe as the owner had not run the generator for several years. The generator ran great after changing the gasoline. It does not stop when the unit gets warm. My onan started blowing out white smoke out the exhaust, I drained the gas from the tank and put fresh gas back in and most of the smoke went away but now I found oily film by the air cleaner and it has a silver metalic metal in it and the oil looks like it has some metalic material in it.

Products designed to flush carbon away from the pistons often cures this problem. If the white smoke is due to the engine being too cool, adding an automatic pre-heater may eliminate white diesel smoke. It runs fine but there is a definite amount of visible white smoke coming from the exhaust.

Whenever I try to start it, I get lots of white smoke. Also, what is the brass fitting at the bottom of the float. I was ready to shut it down and it just cleared up and ran fine, ran all night without a problem.

Went out the next day started it, first pull and it did the same thing, thick cloud of white smoke , full on now blowing solid stream, then it stops and runs fine, no smoke. Has a chinese engine, 5. Last time I started it, ran fine for about seconds then started smoking LOTS of white smoke. Took out plug and it has oil.

Generator starts fine, has hertz jumps to 69. Propane generators can be fitted with the same propane tanks as a home barbecue. The propane is used in place of gasoline, which is what most generators use. Propane is combustible and the heat released is used to power a mechanized generator. An oil saturated air filter or a puddle of oil in your air filter box seems like a strange occurrence by all means considering that its the last thing you would expect to find.

Oil in the air filter or housing is known as blow -by and it can be caused by several different reasons that should be corrected immediately as. As the piston loves up and down while the engine is running the crankcase internal volume is changing With each rotation of the crankshaft. We put a bottle of oil in it, filled it with gas and it seemed to be fine for several minutes. Diesel Smoke tells YOU a Story. But then it started smelling like exhaust and then started blowing out a lot of smoke.

Any help is appreciated. Basically, smoke from a diesel engine indicates that something is not right. It should be taken as an indication that there is a problem existing (or developing), that will potentially shorten the engine life, or result in unnecessary costs.
