First, follow these quick troubleshooting steps: Locate the reset button on the surface of the smoke detector. Hold it for 15–seconds and then release. Wait a couple of minutes and listen for the chirping noise again. Replace the new battery in the detector and plug in the power supply.


Remove the battery from the smoke detector. Restore power to the circuit breaker. Reattach the breaker to mounting bracket. When the power is restore the smoke detector should chirp once.


I thought it must be that the battery needs replaced because it chirps constantly when it needs a new battery but it only chirped times with a minute between each chirp.
