Normal exhaust smoke

On the other han thicker smoke is a pretty big issue. White smoke can be nothing to be concerned about if it’s thin, like vapor. This is probably the result of normal condensation buildup inside the. Light or thin white exhaust smoke is typically water vapor. You’ll notice it the first time you start your car, especially if it’s a cold day.

These are possible causes: Fuel Injectors: A leaking or dripping fuel injector will cause a rich fuel condition. Fuel Pressure Regulator: A stuck closed fuel pressure regulator will cause a rich fuel condition. This is due to the fact that colder air, which is more dense than warm air, lowers temperatures in engine cylinders at the end of the compression stroke.


Car fuels burn producing lots of water. In cold weather it takes longer for the exhaust pipework to get hot enough to keep this water as invisible steam so you see it for longer. It does exactly the same in hot weather but for a shorter period.
