So I started my car this morning and was greeted by white smoke from the exhaust? Went for a drive, came back and smoke still there! Also noticed what looks like oil in the exhaust? What could it be and how much moola am I looking at?
Someone said it could be valve stem seals? You can also plug the brake hoses with a small bolt - mi think. I wouldnt remove the pistons unless you are replacing the seals, especially when you will have to mask the cylinder if you take them out. Pistons are not hard to put back in, but the seals can sometimes be fiddly.
If I continue to drive the car the smoke continue to come out. And well now its starting to missfire. So i checked it and it said cylinder number missfire, So i changed all the spark plugs and still it didnt do any better and now white smoke is coming out of the exhuast, only at cold starts cause when it warms up the smoke goes away so i think my cat is getting hot enought to do its job. BMW told me to replace the em prom so I have replaced the whole dme. However, if it was coming form the exhaust, and it was a result of burning oil, the smoke would be very black.
Suspect the fuel pump system. The nipples that the fuel lines mount to are made of plastic. The smoke just lingers in the air. I used the oil for bmw. A The exhaust smoke may be from oil.
I recently purchased your pcv kit. I just checked the anti freeze and oil level. The anti freeze level was fine. After purchasing, I drove the car three hours on the interstate and around town after that with no problems.
Two days ago I filled the tank up with premium and then added Lucas fuel injector cleaner to the tank. Ever since then I am occasionally getting white smoke from the exhaust. However, there are other issues - including fuel pump, engine troubles. Now, the only way to tell is by placing her onto a. Hey guys, Right my car starts fine and seems to idle and run ok until she starts warming up (roughly around the end of the red bar), when she seems a little down on power but also starts smoking from the exhaust. BMW EM- White smoke (over fuelling ?).
S just busted its head or head gasket a. The car still has grat power and will pull out strongly but white smoke is making me nervous, more so after reading threads here. Can someone please advise me, what are the likely reasons for this smoke and how much I anticipate the cost in lower and higher range. IS this somethine which could be detected through diagnostic test? I had the oil seperator kit replaced by the dealer about winters ago and all of a sudden this year, I’m having the intermittent white (thick!) smoke and loss of power on acceleration. I have never had any trouble with the car until this incident.
Help me understand what the problem is? If the head gasket is blown, the oil will mix with the coolant and the oil will have a brown, milky appearance. If white smoke comes out of the tailpipe even after the car is warme there is a good chance there is a problem.
This smoke is unburned fuel vapor being pumped out the exhaust pipe. In a gas engine, the spark plugs aren't firing, or the fuel mixture is too rich to ignite. The white is tiny droplets of fuel.
