Briggs and stratton white smoke from exhaust

I also replaced the gasoline-filled oil. Now the generator runs beautiful, except that now there is a steadily increasing amount of white smoke coming from the exhaust. It takes about seconds for any white smoke to be visible and steadily more and more white smoke is visible until it looks like a fog machine by about seconds. How to troubleshoot engine smoking.

WARNING: Always read the engine and equipment manual (s) before starting, operating, or servicing your engine or equipment to avoid personal injury or property damage. Note: If the engine has to be tilte ensure the spark plug is facing upwards to help prevent oil from escaping the crankcase. Other reasons for blue or white smoke from engines include exceeding the engine’s oil. I changed the oil and the problem persists.

I found this webWhite Smoke From My Engine which said to clean out or just replace the crankcase breather. Patrick, the heavy white smoke is created when the engine is burning oil. Check the oil level to be sure the crankcase is not overfilled. If you are using anything other than weight oil, drain the oil and refill with weight oil. Overfilling the engine will cause white smoke.

It can also be caused by a broken ring or a worn cylinder wall. Although the engines are designed for long life with a simple maintenance routine, over time you may see and smell black smoke. While it may look ba an engine blowing smoke is often not a serious malfunction, but it can turn into something worse if left to its own. Different colors of smoke can indicate different problems with your engine.

It first started blowing white smoke out of the exhaust a little bit when at low rpms when I turned up the throttle. Just a couple small puffs. The most common contaminant will be gasoline that has leaked from the carburetor. The cause could be a rupture in the breathing tube, which channels air from the combustion chamber to the exhaust port.

Bluish white smoke from an engine exhaust is usually oil gettiing in and not burning during the exhaust exhaust cycle. Oil on the spark plug is a good indication of this. Dark smoke from oil leakage would be from oil leaking in during intake and being burned.

The white smoke is the engine burning off all the excess oil. The fix - drain the excessive oil, and idle the engine until the smoke clears. Depending on your mower type, draining the oil can be a pain in the ass. This may take minutes or so.

I notice it leaks oil If i leave it parked in a spot overnight. Ran engine about thirty minutes and still smoking. I noticed a fine spray of oil from one valve cover but the smoke is coming from the exhaust - not just oil burning on the manifold. When the lawn tractor is smoking white smoke , it is burning oil.

White smoke can also be caused by mowing on a steep slope causing the oil to run up into the cylinder. If you mow on a steep slope, the engine does not circulate oil to the main and rod bearings. Briggs and Stratton engine that blows white smoke when the blades are engaged and the smoke gets worse as the loading increases.
