White smoke after starting car

When it’s cold outside and you notice white smoke at startup , then you probably have nothing to worry about. When the warm or hot exhaust gases meet cold outside air, condensation and steam is a result. After a short amount of driving, the white smoke should lessen. The reason for this type of white smoke is due to burning coolant that somehow got mixed up. Or else, when your car is lacking coolant, the car may heat up and exhaust white smoke.

Then after about seconds to a minute, the white smoke should clear up. If this is the case then you have nothing to worry about. This is generally steam caused by condensation.

Dean, 5woil is fine, Some white smoke at start up from cold engine is fairly normal and will dissipate (stop) for the most part after engine and exhaust has warmed up to operating temperature. If you notice you are low on coolant or having to add coolant then there could be an issue. Sometimes it is just a question of how long the smoke is emitting.

White smoke after starting car

Cars on a cold morning in the winter are going to generate a white vapor. This ordinarily goes away once the car engine is warm. If the white smoke still keeps coming out after the engine is nice and warm something may be wrong. He said it is quite common for a car producing white smoke in morning because of internal combustion of remaining fuel in engine.

And I should not worry about it. If there is a problem of oil and coolant mixing then car will continuously produce white smoke. What makes blue smoke from car when starting and when accelerating? Lots of Blue Smoke When Starting Cars (not Diesel): Bad Valve Seals.

If you see blue smoke coming out of exhaust after you have parked your car for a while and the engine is not a diesel, the probable culprit is Bad Valve Seals. White smoke : Water condensation or antifreeze has mixed with the fuel supply. The white smoke means oil is leaking into the cylinders after the car is parked for a while. The car had been sitting for hours.

The smoke goes away after a minute or two and does not come back when the engine is warm, and it does not get worse if revved when warm. When I was driving home, there were tons of white smoke coming from the rear. If the exhaust smoke is white: Does the exhaust smoke quickly dissipate after leaving the tailpipe? If so, it is probably the result of condensation building up within your car’s exhaust system. If it continues well after start-up, then you may have serious trouble.

After a recent oil change at the local Toyota dealer we noticed that when we start the car in the morning a puff of white smoke spews out from the exhaust for a few seconds and stops. There is no more white smoke while driving the car around. If just at start up this could indicate moisture in the exhaust, this can happen when the engine is turned off and moisture forms in the exhaust through condensation from the air. White Exhaust Smoke Head Gasket Repair Bars Leak Head Gasket 33.

Among the top causes of this issue is a cracked engine block, blown head gasket, engine overheating etc. As the engine warms up after a few minutes, this white smoke will not be reduced because condensation is dissipated. If you see white smoke during startup only, then this is probably because oil leaks pass the valves and mixes with any moisture present in the car’s exhaust.

When you park your car under extremely cold conditions, the car becomes too cool, its air shrinks and starts producing moisture. The most common reason for white smoke from the exhaust pipe that is condensed in the exhaust pipe. Steam is emitted by condensation in exhaust pipe which is seen at exhaust emission. Serious engine damage can occur if you continue to drive. It appears grayish- white in color.

Seems like every month or so, the puff gets a bit bigger.
